Red Glow

If you are looking for a less odorous alternative to our red calcium sulfide, consider this 35 micron white to red yttrium oxide pigment. It is free of odor and is what some would refer to as an "invisible" red. The particle color in daylight, however, is white and not clear. The glow is closer to an orange when charged and left in the dark, but when left under a UV or black light the glow is closer to red.

This pigment has become quite popular among fishing jig and lure makers for it's UV reactivity. It has also been used in wood inlays and resins, but we recommend using some type of UV or black light to help facilitate an adequate charge.

Once charged the glow time on this red is not as long as our other pigments, this is standard for all red glow pigment on the market. Glow time of less than 45 minutes can be expected without some type of UV or black light present. Because of the micron size and lack of encapsulation this pigment can make mediums susceptible to quickly drying out. We recommend only mixing what you will use immediately and avoid prolonged storage of mixed mediums.
